Playground renovation plans expected
18 July 2026
Hackney Council is developing plans for the renovation of the Clissold Park playground following consultation with park users earlier in 2026. A design has been drawn up based on the feedback received, and consultation materials are expected to be published for a six-week consultation. Future of the former paddling pool site remains unresolved
9 May 2026
There is still no confirmed plan or timetable for the future of the former paddling pool area. Damaged fencing around the site was removed earlier in the year. Hackney Council has previously consulted on possible future uses, but CPUG was told in May that there was currently no budget or timetable for redevelopment, with other projects in the park taking priority.
CPUG has asked the Council for more information about the options being considered for the site.
Work continues to improve the aviary
9 May 2026
Discussions are continuing about improvements to the Clissold Park aviary. Proposals include introducing more foliage and perches and providing better information about the birds. The birds in the aviary are rescues and cannot simply be released.
CPUG’s Park Animals representative is involved in discussions about the improvements.
What happens next for the goat enclosure?
18 July 2026
The future of the goat enclosure remains under discussion following the loss of the park’s goats. CPUG has been asking Hackney Council about the future of the enclosure and whether goats might eventually be reintroduced. At the July meeting, it was suggested that the question may be revisited once the current depot and playground works have been completed.
No decision has yet been made.
Cycling and e-bikes in the park
18 July 2026

CPUG has also asked for enforcement activity to take place during weekday morning peak periods.
Separately, CPUG continues to seek updates from Hackney Council about proposals relating to crossings and cycling routes around the park.
